Aereth's Monthly Eclipse

Once during each Moon, Aereth experiences the phenomenon known as the Shroud.

During the Shroud, an interaction between Aereth, Aine, Gwydion, and the Ley produces a period of unusual darkness. The phenomenon has occurred throughout recorded history and has acquired enormous religious and supernatural significance.

Across many cultures, the Shroud is associated with a thinning of the Veil Between the Worlds.

Shadowborn incursions are believed to become easier during this period, and ancient portals left by the Tuatha Dé Danann may become less stable. Whether every belief surrounding the Shroud can be proven is another matter, but few inhabitants of Aereth dismiss it entirely.

The Shrouds experienced during the darkest portions of Obscura are traditionally the most severe.

For players, the important thing to remember is simple:

The Shroud occurs once each Moon and is a particularly favorable time for stories involving the Shadow, the Veil, ancient portals, supernatural disturbances, or things that should have remained on the other side.
