Overview

The Dark Templars are fallen members of the Guardians of the Temple: Knights or Dames who have betrayed the purpose of their Order and turned toward Shadow. They are not a recognized branch of the Church of Ceros, nor are they part of y Carthu. Their existence is an old and deeply feared corruption within Guardian history.

Any Guardian may fall through cruelty, ambition, fear, hatred, despair, or deliberate service to Shadow. An ordinary Guardian who falls remains dangerous because of training, authority, knowledge, and access, but does not gain supernatural powers merely by betraying the Order.

Far rarer and more feared are fallen Called Guardians. The Calling itself makes its bearer resistant to Shadow Corruption, so corrupting one is difficult. When it succeeds, however, a connection once turned toward the Light may become twisted, and the Guardian's Blessings may be corrupted with it.
