A Glimpse of the World
Aereth is a vast moon-world orbiting Gwydion, a ringed gas giant beneath the light of the star Bel. Across Aereth's sky, the Ley appears as rippling bands of silver, blue, and gold, with hints of green and purple. The Ley waxes and wanes over immense cycles, shaping both magic and climate.
Our current stories focus on only a small portion of this much larger world. Ancient peoples, younger human cultures, dragons, magic, dangerous wilderness, political rivalries, and the lingering consequences of Aereth's long history all provide room for very different kinds of stories.
You do not need to learn the entire world before you play. Read the material relevant to your character and follow links when you want to explore more.
Playable Peoples
Aereth's playable peoples include humans and the Elder Races. Detailed species and culture guides explain their histories, abilities, limitations, and character-creation requirements.
- Ddraig — Aereth's ancient sentient dragons.
- Drakeri — dragon-blooded humans with deep ties to the Ddraig and the Ley.
- Sídhe — one of Aereth's ancient Elder Races, with strong innate ties to magic.
- Humans — Aereth's younger human peoples and cultures.
- Travelers — rare humans from Earth who entered Aereth through damaged ancient portals and became stranded there.
Some character types have additional requirements or limits. Check the appropriate character and species guide before creating one.
Magic
Magic is part of Aereth, but it is neither effortless nor unlimited. Magical ability, training, and limitations vary by individual and species. No magic-user begins with perfect command of their abilities.
For character-creation requirements, permitted abilities, and restrictions, see the Magic Rules and the appropriate species guide.
